Maureen FitzSimons, better known as Maureen O'Hara in America, was an exceptional child. It was an innate trait for a girl who was of Irish descent, who was nurtured in her early days by talented relatives and parents. Maureen joined this wonderful sanctuary located in Ranelagh, Ireland on August 17th of 1920. Marguerita FitzSimons' mom, Lilburn, was a contralto. Her father, Charles FitzSimons, managed an enterprise in Dublin and was also the owner of the renowned Irish soccer team "The Shamrock Rovers." Maureen FitzSimons was the child of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy, Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons completed this lovely family. Maureen enjoyed rough sports as an infant and was extremely good in them. This interest was combined with the natural ability to perform. Her winning of almost all Feis Awards for her home country's theater and drama proved the fact that she was a natural performer. As she reached the age of 14 she was accepted by the Abbey Theater accepted her and allowed her to live out her dreams of classical theater and opera singing.
